State Senator Sally Turner (R-Turner) released the following statement after the Governor signed the Democrats budget that spends the most in Illinois history and only provides short-term tax relief:
“I am disappointed to see the Governor sign a budget that includes the most spending in state history and temporary relief for Illinoisans struggling to keep up with surging inflation and out-of-control taxes.
“Our state had a rare chance this year to provide meaningful and long-lasting tax relief to the people of our state, which is why I supported the Senate Republicans’ plan that created $2.2 billion in permanent tax relief. However, when it came time to helping our constituents get through this financially difficult time, the Majority Party decided to continue its spending spree and offer election-year tax gimmicks.”
