Senator Sally Turner Honors Mt. Pulaski Educator Ralph Allen with 2025 Outstanding Teacher Award

Over the weekend, State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason) honored Mt. Pulaski High School Agricultural Science teacher and FFA advisor Ralph Allen with her 2025 Outstanding Teacher of the 44th District Award.

Allen, who has taught for more than three decades, was nominated by community member Clay Aylesworth. In his nomination, Aylesworth praised Allen for his dedication to both the classroom and the FFA program, saying, “Mr. Allen is a great teacher and even a better person. His students are always prepared and placing in the very top of the contests at Section, District, and State level.”

“Mr. Allen has poured his heart into his students for decades,” said Senator Sally Turner. “Whether in the classroom or leading his FFA team, he constantly goes above and beyond to make sure they are prepared to succeed. His impact has shaped the lives of countless young people in our community.”

This recognition adds to Allen’s long list of accomplishments, including being named the 2025 Golden Owl Award winner, a statewide honor that celebrates exceptional agricultural educators. Allen has spent his career at Mt. Pulaski CUSD 23, except for a brief period teaching at Lincoln Land Community College and Williamsville High School, where he has led students to consistent success in FFA competitions and instilled a strong work ethic that extends far beyond the classroom.

“Mr. Allen represents the very best of what it means to be an educator,” continued Senator Sally Turner. “His commitment to his students, his school, and his community is remarkable. I’m proud to honor him with this award.”

Outside of the classroom, Allen continues to farm, raise cattle, and serve as a part-time minister. He and his wife, Lori, have four children and two grandchildren. Allen will retire at the end of the 2025–2026 school year.

Senator Sally Turner’s Outstanding Teacher Award is given each year to a teacher who lives or works in the 44th Senate District and is selected based on the quality of nominations submitted by community members.
