State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason) released the following statement in response to the Senate passing a gun control bill this evening:
“It’s disappointing that such a controversial and consequential piece of legislation be once again taken up during lame duck session, where so many legislators are no longer accountable to their voters.
“House Bill 5471 will do little to reduce crime. In fact, if we really want to address gun violence, we should be starting with holding those who commit gun crimes accountable. Unfortunately, if this bill becomes law, all the Majority Party has really accomplished is creating new criminals out of our state’s law-abiding, gun owning citizens.”
